cutting out the middle man

this was bound to happen, with publishers belly aching over lost revenue due to the used games channel. while i'm not keen on NOT having a physical disc, with most of the world moving into the "clouds" it seems only a matter of time.

retailers will get boxes with codes, so i have a feeling that sometime not too far into the future, the brick and mortars or even online retailers will end up carrying mostly limited editions or special packages.

well gamestop, you've been watchin those blockbusters close across the mall parking lot? your love for gauging gamers and publishers alike on selling used games may have a death-watch counter.

filthy.. :/

so the Oct 15th (yea 2 weeks removed..) was the Global handwashing day. (sad when such day is needed) and to mark the occasion, Researchers from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and Queen Mary, University of London released even better news, 1 i
n 6 phones housed e.coli! awesome!!

mobiles are known to be a very hospitable environment for bacteria thanks to warm electronics, and the fact that
people NEVER (well almost never) clean them. so wipe it down once in a while eh?

Lytro Camera

must be a camera if it has a lens!
Revolutionary new camera called Lytro is here! (well is announced, and will soon shows up in spring/summer of 2012)

The lipstick lookin cameras maintain f2.0 throughout the 8x zoom range. and takes photos instantaneously, (no need for focusing, cuz that's done by the software at the user end.

https://www.lytro.com/living-pictures/282

i pre-ordered the 8GB Graphite for $399 + $10 shipping (too bad they didn't take AMEX, as my Blue card has an extra warranty coverage, which is awesome for electronics purchases), the blue one is also $399, while the red one in the middle is the 16 GB version which can be had for an extra Benny, which i just could not justify.

for once i opted for the conservative good looks of graphite, as the red one cost too much :p (as if $399 is cheap, but after giving it some thought (all of 15 seconds) i realized, i just had to have this tech and the lipstick form factor before the technology blows up, making a run at the DSLR market.

pretty soon you'll see me roam about w/ my iP4S in hand, w/ the Lytos, and the GF1. (i want the Leica Macro Lens!!!) anyway, it'll be interesting :D

iOS5 goes live!! erm.. FAIL!

iOS 5 is awesome!(?) if you can get it!
iOS 5, went live earlier today,
and sent downloaders back to the future, to the days of  56K modem.

being swamped w/ request, mighty servers at Apple served some, while failing at most. the future for cloud computing just keeps looking better!

when was the last time one had to wait 4+ hours for an update? (if lucky) or find that your download failed.. :/

btw, you'll need the iTunes 10.5 to upgrade ;)

seems we are not looking at the future of the cloud..
or perhaps we are looking at the future of the cloud..

as for all the features of the new iOS 5, hit the link ;)

as for me, i'll update after i get done with my current set of works, or after i come back from the States with my brand spankin new iPhone 4S

iPad Mini?

CNET reports: Apple is readying the iPad Mini.
the question is whether mini means smaller (just right sized in my opinion) 7 inch tablet, or mini in terms of lower price..

That being said, I still like my iPad, (oversized iTouch, or iTouch w/ 10 inch screen w/ big battery) despite its flaws: size, safari issues.. but a 7- incher w/ retina display is the perfect in-between for the 3.5 inch iPhone. (future iPhone screen may grow to 4.0 inches by going edge to edge, but shouldn't get any bigger than that.)

5.3" HD Super AMOLED Galaxy Note
While it's nice Samsung is coming out with tablets/ smart phones of various sizes, it may not be the most efficient way of going about it.

the new Galaxy note, touting its 5.3 inch display maybe the absolute limit for a smartphone screen size. (yes there was the tab, but common, it was a awkward hybrid. it's not a phone if its a speaker phone only.. and need a hands-free earphones to have private conversations.)

although new HD LTE phones are encroaching by going beyond big 4.5 inch screens. (Nexus Prime and it's cool lookin but not-sure-how-practical curved glass coming in at 4.65 inches..)

anyway, 4 inches, 4.5 inches, 5 inches, 7 inches, 8.9 inches, 10.1 inches.. that's 3 SKUs too many in my opinion.
